William E. Robinson, Sr., age 68 of Gahanna formerly of Baltimore, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
He was born in Lancaster, on July 26, 1942. He grew up in Baltimore and was a graduate of Liberty Union High School. Bill was a member of several Clarence Beery-coached Little League teams that won championships in the 50’s. He lettered in baseball and played football for four years at Liberty Union, receiving all Mid-State League honorable mention as a senior.
He continued his education at Ohio University. Bill was elected to Baltimore Village Council, often conducting Mayor’s Court when the mayor was absent. He also volunteered to manage the Baltimore Pool. Motivated by his good friend, Ronnie Bibler, Bill and Ronnie bought the Starlite Lanes in Baltimore when its future was uncertain. That started Bill’s successful career as an entrepreneur, ultimately owning several bowling centers. Bill retired from Lucent Technologies. He was a member of the Bowling Proprietors Association and the Kiwanis Club. Bill loved spending time with his family, especially at their summer home on Indian Lake. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who would have done anything for the ones he loved. He was preceded in death by his father, William Robinson.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Claudia Robinson; sons, William “Rob” Robinson Jr. of Buckeye Lake and Jeffrey (Casey) O’Connor; mother, Nellie Robinson of Baltimore; grandchildren, Drew Robinson, Audrey Robinson, and Tyler O’Connor; and many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sistersin law, and friends.
Funeral service was August 14, 2014, at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, Gahanna, with Matthew R. Link officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden, Columbus.
