Walnut Township School levy on Aug. 2 ballot will NOT increase taxes

Editor:

We would like to ask your readers to join us in our efforts to pass the Walnut Township Local Schools RENEWAL levy that will be on the ballot on Tuesday, August 2.

Our school district needs to keep the money that is currently coming in to maintain our schools’ current programs and staffing. If voters RENEW this levy on August 2, your property taxes may actually go down due to current valuations and the capped income ($250,000) when the original levy was passed. If the levy isn’t RENEWED this year, it will have to be placed on a future ballot as a new levy which means tax payers could lose:

• Homestead exemptions

• Non-business credit for agricultural and residential parcels

• Owner occupancy credit for agricultural and residential parcels

Please support our community and children by voting YES on Issue 2. Let’s give the students of Millersport Schools what they deserve!

Thank you for your support. Please remember it is only a RENEWAL. Your property taxes will NOT increase and may actually go down from current levels.
