Waln promoted

COLUMBUS – Buckeye Lake State Park Manager Tim Waln has been promoted to park manager at Deer Creek State Park in Pickaway County, south of Columbus.

ODNR’s website describes Deer Creek as “central Ohio’s vacation showplace. A collage of meadows and woodlands surround the scenic reservoir. This resort park features a modern lodge, cottages, campground, golf course, swimming beach and boating for outdoor enthusiasts.”

The announcement came via a Dec. 26 memo from Dan West, Chief of the Division of Parks and Recreation to park managers and staff.

West wrote, “Along with Tim’s new appointment, we will also be restructuring to include Buckeye Lake State Park within this region (Deer Creek). More information will be provided early next year.”

Waln is a graduate of Mt. Vernon Nazarene College with a degree in Natural Resources. His career with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources began in 1986 as a park officer at Salt Fork State Park. Since then he has been a park officer at Caesar Creek and Cowan Lake. Waln served on a temporary bais as assistant manager at Stonelick, Alum Creek and Paint Creek. He was promoted to assistant park manager in 2000 at Paint Creek and to park manager at Buckeye Lake in 2004.

“Tim’s leadership abilities, work ethics and knowledge will be an asset to the Deer Creek Region,” West added in the memo.
