I would urge the community to support the renewal levy for funding of the Licking County Library system in this fall’s general election. This one mill request is not a new tax and will not cost the taxpayer additional money. And it will allow the County Library to maintain current level of operations.
As a former Board member and President of the Library I can assure you our community is well served with resources, professional staffing, and facilities in downtown and west Newark, Hebron, Buckeye Lake, Utica, Johnstown and a countywide Bookmobile that visits 150 additional locations.
Much could be said about recent building improvements and thousands of programs; but here are three critical points…free libraries promote literacy to all segments of the community, they boost lifelong learning, and provide access to computers, eBooks and more. At this time in the history of our community and nation, it is more important than ever to support literacy and lifelong learning.
Vote FOR the Library Levy Renewal either in person this month, by absentee ballot, or on Election Day November 4th. It is how we ‘pay forward’!
