Union Township hosts first tire collection day Saturday, March 28



UNION TOWNSHIP – Union Township is hosting the first scrap tire collection event in 2015 in Licking County.

Township residents can drop off up to 10 tires at a time from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the Union Township Complex, 1380 Beaver Run Road.

Costs are $1 per tire for passenger vehicles; $3 per tire for pickup truck tires; and $10 per tire for agricultural or semi truck tires. Add an additional $4 is charged for any tires on a rim. Payment must be made in cash.

Residents can make as many trips with a maximum of 10 tires each trip as able during the four-hour collection event.

Transporting more than 10 scrap tires at a time requires a special license under ORC Setion 3734.83. If caught, the fines are substantial.
