Trick or treat focus shifts to new park

MILLERSPORT – Village officials successfully shifted the focus point for the annual Treat or Trick night along Lancaster Street from the Circle K gas station lot to the village’s new Mathias Miller Park.

Thanks to the uncertain and rainy weather only about a dozen grade school students participated in the village’s new pumpkin decorating contest.  But the wet weather didn’t keep hundreds of trick or treaters from walking beyond the fire station to the new park. Police Chief Mark Consolo and fellow officers, assisted by Mayor Gary Matheny and Village Administrator Vince Popo, rewarded each trick or treater for the extra walk with a generous handful of candy.

The new park that replaced the former Sohio station that had turned into a couple of  run down apartments will be dedicated at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 18.  The public is invited. A Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony with a visit from Santa Claus is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 8.
