Dawes Arboretum Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Maple Syrup Madness- Saturday, February 24 – Saturday, March 10, 2007, 10am – 5pm, daily except Sunday, 1 – 5pm, From treetop to tabletop, the history of syrup production is fascinating. The Maple Trail will lead curious hikers from the shelter house to the Log Cabin where they’ll finda crackling fire, lots of sweet-smelling steam and samples of syrup. Guide yourself down the Maple Trail or take part in a guided tour starting at the Shelter House on Saturdays at 2pm.

Wetland Chronicles: March Moon- Saturday, March 3, 2007, 7 – 9pm, Experience the adventures of the wetlands during full moon and findout why Native Americans call it the “worm moon.” The vernal equinox is less than three weeks away; the official beginning of spring. So put on your boots, leave the flashlights at home and come out for a walk in the wetlands under moon illumination. $5/members free, reservation required, meet at the Dutch Forks Wetlands, located on White Chapel Rd.

The grounds are open from dawn to dusk. The Visitors Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Fee and reservations required for some programs. Call 740-323-2355 or 800-44-DAWES for information or visit www.dawesarb.org.

‘Sew’ Much Fun – Thornville, It’s the clothing and textile update of the year–the Sewing Smorgasbord is Saturday, March 24, 9:15 a.m. to 3:05 p.m., doors open at 8:30 a.m., at the Sheridan Middle School near Thornville. It’s an update for the small home-based cottage industry of sewing with 30 classes and more than 23 exhibitors, admission is $5 per person, contact Cindy Schuster, (740) 743-1602.

Dodgeball Tournament Lakewood Middle School. The 2nd Annual Joe Parrish Memorial Dodgeball Tournament is set for Saturday, March 10 at Lakewood Middle School. The registration for each six-member team is $30. Each team is guaranteed four games. March 1 is the registration deadline. St. Patrick’s Day Party Buckeye Lake. Buckeye Lake Library is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Party as part of Family Fun Night Story Time on March 14 at 5 p.m. Bring the entire family for St. Patrick’s Day games, shamrock cookies and green punch. Reference, Research and Computer Classes Newark. The Newark Library is holding classes on reference, research and computers on March 6 and March 21. The class scheduled for March 6 at 7 p.m. will introduce participants to Internet searches and e-mail usage. Those needing an introduction to word processing software should attend the class scheduled for March 21 at 7 p.m. Registration is required and space is limited for both sessions. Lonagerger Basket BingoBuckeye Lake. Lakewood Band Booser present Longabergo Basket Bingo on Saturday, March 3 at the Tri-County Dive & Rescue Team Hall behind Albanese’s Food Gallery. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Features new and retired baskets.

Theatre

Dancin’ Tunes Millersport, The Millersport Community Theatre presents the 2007 Minstrel “Dancin’ Tunes” Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3, 8 p.m. at the Millersport District Auditorium, 11850 Lancaster Street, Millersport. Exhibits

The Art of Science Granville, The Denison Museum’s current exhibition, “The Art of Science,” is open from 1 to 4 p.m. daily and will continue until Friday (March 23) in Burke Hall. “The Art of Science” explores the boundaries where the disciplines of art and science overlap. Films, lectures, workshops, and other special programs are scheduled throughout the exhibition period.
