Dawes Arboretum – Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Maple Syrup Days – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, March 12. FREE! Learn the history and process of maple sugaring as you meander down the paved trail toward The Arboretum’s log cabin. Inside, docents greet you with a warm fire and a taste of syrup as you witness the evaporator at work turning sap into syrup. During Maple Syrup Days, the cabin is open from 10 am – 4 pm daily and guided tours are offered on Saturdays at 2 pm. Organized groups can schedule a free, private tour by calling 800.44.DAWES.

World War II: Back The Attack! Arsenal of Democracy – The Works, Newark. This temporary history exhibit is curated by Tracie Hill, Works’ firearms curator. Admission to “Back The Attack” is free to the public and open Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. through April 1, 2017. General admission is required to experience The Works Museum.

Preschool Storytime – Buckeye Lake Library. Preschool storytime returns every Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. February 22 through March 15. Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited to attend the weekly Storytime program, complete with stories, songs, snacks, and a craft as well as laughter and learning.

BL 2030 Planning Presentation – Buckeye Lake Eagles. Everyone is invited to a presentation by DPZ, the planning firm selected by BL 2030 Inc. to do some preliminary planning work around Buckeye Lake, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, at the Buckeye Lake Eagles. The presentation will include of sample of the firm’s past work and their plans for the Buckeye Lake project that is expected to start in May.

Chili Cook-Off – Somerset. Be the judge from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, at the Somerset Artists’ Cooperative, 206 S. Market St. Chef Damon of Clay Haus, The Hole in the Wall, and Dodson’s on Broadway will challenge 2016 Winner Co-op President Dale Hague. Tickets are $10 and include a free “mini” pottery bowl, an opportunity for door prizes and 10% off gift store purchases. Tickets are available at the Cooperative from 10 – 4 on Saturdays and at the door.

Maple Syrup Festival – Malabar Farm State Park. Malabar Farm State Park will host its 41st annual Maple Syrup Festival from 12-4 p.m. the weekends of March 4-5 and March 11-12. Visitors can take horse-drawn wagon rides to the Sugar Camp, witness live historical demonstrations and enjoy music and food. Maple products will be available for sale. All About Cats Expo Ohio Expo Center. A great show for pet lovers of all ages! Over 200 cats of all types will compete March 10 – 12 for ribbons in an officially judged TICA (The International Cat Association) Event, hosted by Show Cats Columbus. House cats welcome to participate; to enter please visit www.allaboutcatsexpo.com . Vendors will be on hand with everything from A to Z in cat products and other pet products. Cat entertainment, cat agility course, ASK THE VET booth, cat rescues (adopt a cat at the show!) plus a small horse exhibit, llamas, and even Johnny Peers famous “Muttville Comix” comedy dog ac featuring over a dozen dogs. Pancake & Sausage Breakfast – Millersport. The Millersport Lions Club is sponsoring a pancake & sausage breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 11, at the Lions Clubhouse. Bower & Sons Meat is providing the sausage. $5 donation. Proceeds will help pay for a disability swing in Veterans’ Park behind the Village Hall.

Wild Turkey Calling Clinic – Newark. Outdoors enthusiasts interested in learning to call turkeys are encouraged to attend a free informational workshop from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, at the Licking County Library, 101 West Main Street, Newark.

Celebrate Ireland – Hebron Library. Join Irish native Deirdre Mc Intyre and the staff of the Hebron Library as we “Celebrate Ireland”. We will kick off the celebration at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, with a themed preschool story time. Deirdre will take preschoolers and their caregivers on a journey to the “Emerald Isle” with stories of fairies, castles, sheep, and swans. At 2 p.m., patrons will be entertained by Irish dancing featuring dancers from the Granville Dance and Music Academy. We will share authentic Irish food from 2-5 p.m. Bring the whole family for this free one-of-a-kind program. No registration is required.

Field and Stream Outdoor Life Deer and Turkey Expo – Ohio Expo Center. This well-known event, now in its 25th year, brings activities, free seminars, gear, more than 450 booths, demonstrations, contests, displays and more to the Ohio Expo Center March 17 – 19. Ohio Beef Expo – Ohio Expo Center. The Ohio Beef Expo is Ohio’s premier beef industry event. The March 17 – 19 Expo includes a trade show, breeding cattle sales and a junior show. Ranked as one of the Top 5 largest meetings/conventions in Central Ohio, the Beef Expo attracts more than 30,000 attendees annually. The centerpiece of the Expo, the trade show, boasts more than 100 vendors from 13 states. Exhibitors in this year’s trade show represent all segments of the industry from cattle handling equipment to show supplies, clothing to feed, genetics, and novelty items, and much, much more. St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl- Granville. Ten Granville restaurants and bars will paraticipate in the Sixth Annual Granville St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl on Friday, March 17. Participating this year are Broadway Pub, Buxton Inn, Day y Noche, Donato’s, Granville Inn, Liquid, Mai Chau/Three Tigers, Moe’s Original BBQ, Snapshots and Taco Dan’s. Most establishments will offer food and/or drink specials; several bars will host live music and a commemorative tee shirt will be available for purchase at the Granville Inn front desk for $15. Participants will be maintaining their regular Friday business hours.

The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party – Buckingham Meeting House, Newark. The Licking County Historical Society will host the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at noon on Saturday, March 18, within the historic walls of the Buckingham Meeting House. Guests will be served tea and light refreshments while enjoying a fashion show of stylish hats from bygone eras. Guests are encouraged to wear a favorite hat – any style! Knox County Cantata Choir – Mt. Vernon. The choir presents “Who Is This King?” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31 and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, at Memorial Theater. Tickets are $5 and available at the door or from choir members.
