Pruning Principles- Saturday, April 7, 9am – noon, Proper pruning enhances the beauty and value of almost any landscape tree and shrub. Well pruned plants will live longer and be healthier, too. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener, this class will have you pruning like a pro! $15/$10 members, reservation required, meet at the Visitors Center.

Beginning Bonsai – Two sessions, Wednesday, April 11 & 18, 2007, 7 – 10pm, This two-session bonsai course will introduce you to the art of bonsai. The first session will lead you through the history of bonsai, types of plants to use, containers, bonsai soil, tools needed and pruning needs. During this first session, students will also plant a tree in a container to take home and nurture until the next session. During the second session, students learn how to prune and style their tree using special wire. Materials for this course include one tree, bonsai container, growing media, wire and an Art of Bonsai booklet. Tools will be available for students to use during the class. $45/$30 members, reservation required, meet at the Zand Education Center.

+ Closing the season will be “Fuddy Meers” by David Lindsay- Abaire. This outrageous comedy follows the adventures of Claire, who suffers from psychogenic amnesia and loses all her memories each night while she sleeps. Directed by Robert Gander, the play will be performed April 6-7 and 10-14.

Geauga County Maple FestivalChardon, April 12 – 15. The Geauga County Maple Festival kicks off the Ohio Festivals & Events Association’s festival season each year! Always held the weekend after Easter on beautiful Chardon Square. GCMF celebrates the production of maple syrup. Luciana Souza Granville, The final presentation of Denison University’s Vail Series for the 06/07 year brings the superb artistry of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet (LAGQ) and the Grammy Awardwinning vocalizations of Brazilian native Luciana Souza to Swasey Chapel. Ohio C&W Association Newark. The Newark Chapter of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association meets Sunday, April 8, in the Grotto Hall on Waterworks Road in Newark with an Easter pot luck at 12:30 p.m. Everyone wishing to eat, please bring a covered dish, otherwise, there’s a $5 meal charge.
