Dawes Arboretum – Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Arbor Day Festival- Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The arboretum will host its annual Arbor Day Festival this weekend. Hands-on displays, activities and educational booths will populate the preserve’s lovely grounds, which boast 4,500 unique plants and hundreds of native Ohio trees. Visitors will even have the chance to scale a few with EarthJoy, a recreational tree-climbing company. Free.

The Visitors Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and holidays. For more information visit www.dawes arb.org

All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast – Hebron. Help support the New Life Baby Pantry 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, at Hebron New Life UMC, 925 W. Main St. Just $5 for a delicious breakfast on the last Saturday of every month.

All American Pet Expo – Ohio Expo Center. Enjoy fun pet entertainment, pet competition shows and events, seminars and new product sales and demonstrations about the importance of responsible pet ownership April 25 – 27. Hours: Friday (11 a.m. – 8 p.m.); Saturday (10 a.m. – 8 p.m.); Sunday (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.). Admission: Adults – $12; Seniors – $10; Children (ages 4-12) – $8; Children (3 & under) – Free. Buckeye Lake Museum Car Show – North Shore, Buckeye Lake State Park. The first car show of the season is Saturday, April 26, at the North Shore boat ramp. Registration runs from noon to 3 p.m. with awards presented at 4:40 p.m. Door prizes and drawings throughout the afternoon. Food will be available. Cost is $10 per vehicle. Proceeds benefit the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society.

Saturday Morning Hike – Lobdell Reserve, Alexander. Join us at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, for a hike at Lobdell Reserve! Hike will be led by a staff member and last about an hour depending on trail conditions. Please dress appropriately for weather and terrain.

Recycled Craft Night – Newark Library. Have you heard? Bird is the word! This month from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, in Meeting Room B, Licking County Library, we will be making bird feeders, baths and seed balls for the returning symphony that is assembling.

The Repose of President Lincoln – Ohio Statehouse, Columbus. A group of Civil War re-enactors will provide an honor guard for a replica of Lincoln’s casket from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29. This will take place on the site where the slain President lay in state in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda on April 29, 1865. A special exhibit of images from the Library of Congress will be on view in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda on Lincoln’s assassination and the men and women named as conspirators along with their fate. This exhibit is for mature audiences.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover – Hebron Library. Help us celebrate 100 years of story time in Licking County at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. Come in your PJs and bring a stuffed animal friend to this special evening story time at the library. After story time, if your stuffed animal is brave enough, it can stay and enjoy a sleepover at the library while you go home. Pick up your friend the next morning and see photos of the animals having fun overnight!

Yoga Classes – Buckeye Lake Library. The Buckeye Lake Library is hosting free yoga classes for any skill level. Classes will be instructed by Lenise Alexandra. The next class is set for 9 – 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. Classes are free and open to the public. No registration is required to attend.

Story Time Birthday Party – Buckeye Lake Library. Help us celebrate 100 years of story time in Licking County from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. Join us for a birthday themed story time, board games, crafts, and of course birthday cupcakes while supplies last. Fun for the whole family. FREE with no registration is needed.

“Finding Your Civil War Ancestors” – Coshocton. Roscoe Village welcomes Eydie Wright Keim, President of the Licking County Genealogical Society at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at the Roscoe Village Visitor Center. The FREE workshop describes how to find your civil war ancestors. For more information visit www.roscoevillage.com

Explore the Outdoors- Infirmary Mound Park, Granville. Turn off those screens and tune into nature from 1 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 4! At Explore the Outdoors, all ages can enjoy hands-on activities including fishing, paddling, hiking, live animals, lawn games and a geocache course courtesy of CycLicking! The Outdoor Source will have gear and kayaks to demo. Licking County Recycling, Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District, Downtown Cycles, Columbus Flyers Disc Golf Club and the Ohio Horseman’s Council- Licking County Chapter will have bikes, discs, and trailers on display! Pet Appreciation Month – Buckeye Lake Library. It’s our first ever pet appreciation month during the month of May. Stop by the Buckeye Lake Library and drop off a picture of your pet to be posted in our library. Attend a Pet Adoption Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, sponsored by the Licking County Humane Society. Attend a Community Educational Seminar for Pet Wellness from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, hosted by PetPlex Animal Hospital. You can also drop off much needed items for the Licking County Humane Society at our branch all month long.

Let’s Ride a Bike! – Bike Path. Meet us at the Cherry Valley and Reddington roads parking lot at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, as we venture down the bike path for a gentle bike ride! Helmets required under 18.

Breakfast with the Birds – Kraner Nature Center, Newark. Once a month, we will be having breakfast with the birds! Join us from 7 – 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, at the Kraner Nature Center to view wildlife through the window, enjoy some coffee and pastries, and meet some new friends. Don’t know much about birds? No problem! Come learn in a relaxed group setting.

Little Laker Baseball Fundraiser – Millersport. Help us build a new baseball diamond at Veterans’ Memorial Park from 2:00 – 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the Millersport Lions Club.
