Dawes Arboretum Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Night Hike- Friday, September 21, 7:30 – 9:30pm, Join us for a stroll under the stars as we listen and watch for the changes happening all around us in The Arboretum. Daylight intensity changes have triggered animals to either start migrating or start preparing for the winter ahead. We’ll talk about what’s going on around us and the Naturalist will lead you through a forest full of autumn noises. Free, meet at the Visitors Center Deck

Fly-In, Drive-in Breakfast- Newark-Heath Airport. Join the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association for their annual breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. Pilots from all over Ohio and neighboring states are expected. Come out to see all types of general aviation aircraft from modern production aircraft to vintage and classic aircraft. Many homebuilt experimental aircraft are also expected. Free airplane rides for children ages 8 through 17 will be available. A parent or legal guardian must be present to grant permission for the free flight. The free flights begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. Breakfast is served for a modest charge from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome.

Baltimore Farmers’ Market – Old Basil Firehouse. Buy fresh produce, baked goods, jams and jellies and crafts every Friday from 5 – 7 p.m. The old Basil Fire House is at the corner of West Market Street (Ohio 256) and North High Street. Free entertainment the last Friday of each month. Sponsored by the Baltimore Downtown Restoration Committee. Hebron Farmers’ Market Canal Park. Buy directly from area farmers and artisans on Wednesdays from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Hebron Business Association.

911 Memorial Walking ParadeLieb’s Island. The Lieb’s Island Civic Association is sponsoring its sixth annual tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The walking parade begins at the Maple Avenue stop sign at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11. The procession will make a .75 mile loop of the island, rain or shine. Children, bikes, golf carats, wagons and whatever are welcome. Parking is available at the Lieb’s Island boat ramps, walking onto the island. Everyone is invited to a picnic in Huffman Park following the parade.

Backwoods Fest Thornville. The popular arts, crafts, food and music show, featuring over 250 crafters, has added an extra day, running Sept. 14-16, rain or shine. Hours on Friday and Saturday are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $6 with 10 and under free. Parking is free. Take High Point Road east off Ohio 13. “Lite The Nite Car Show” – Newark. Voted the #1 Downtown Car Show for the past six years by Cruisin’ Times Magazine – Ohio’s premier car show returns for 22nd year to Newark’s downtown Courthouse Square on Saturday, September 8th. Nearly 1,000 vehicles including antiques, vintage, street rods, classics, motorcycles, and speciality cars are expected. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at $8 per entry. Awards and trophies will be presented at 8 p.m. from the steps on the east side of the Licking County Courthouse, as well as door prizes awarded throughout the day! Funds support the annual Christmas lighting of the Licking County Courthouse and other community charities. A number of vendors and crafters will have displays on the Courthouse lawn.

Linda Thompson Benefit Harbor Hills Country Club. A Luau Benefit Bash for Linda Thompson is set for Friday, Sept. 21. Friends are raising money to help with medical expenses after her July 5 stroke. Dinner, presented by ‘After 6’ Catering and the 19th Hole Club, is $15 per person or $25 per couple. There will be entertainment inside and outside the clubhouse. Lakewood Homecoming ParadeHebron. The Hebron Business Association and Lakewood High School have organized a homecoming parade and pep rally/ bonfirefor Thursday, Sept. 27. “Take 5” with Dwight Lenox – Newark. The Works in downtown Newark will hold a free outdoor concert on Friday, September 7th, featuring vocalist Dwight Lenox. Lenox will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in The Works’ LeFevre Courtyard one block south of the Courthouse Square in Newark.

Concert goers are welcome to eat lunch during the concert and may bring their own lunches or purchase boxed lunches on-site from Heritage Deli. Some tables and seating will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to spread out on the grass. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the Central Gallery located at the west end of the courtyard.
