Dawes Arboretum – Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Garden Craft Workshop: Mosaic Stepping Stones- Saturday June 6, 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., $30/$20 members, Reservation required, $15 for each additional stepping stone. Vouchers not accepted for this program, meet at the Zand Education Center. Create a stepping stone to welcome garden visitors and perhaps even provide a spot for beneficial insects and amphibians beneath which to dwell. Families are welcome! Arboretum Education Director Sara Lowe will lead the workshop.

Bonsai Show- Saturday, June 13, 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Free, at the Visitors Center. The Dawes Arboretum invites you to experience the art of bonsai at the 29th Ohio Regional Bonsai Show. Free demonstrations go on throughout the weekend. More than 100 bonsai specimens are displayed in the Firelight Room and Bonsai Courtyard for viewing. Whether you are inclined to start your own bonsai or if you are an old pro looking for supplies, be sure to visit the vendor area on the Visitors Center Deck.

Strut with Your Pup- Saturday, June 20, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m, Free, Visitors Center. Join in the fun as we hit the trails with our pooch pals for an energizing stroll through some of our beautiful collections and trails. This will be an opportunity to talk about why your dog needs to stay on trails and why you shouldn’t let Fido whiz on the conifers. All well-behaved dogs are welcome. Arboretum Education Director Sara Lowe and her dog, Louie, will lead the strut..

Licking Park District – Licking County. Don’t miss this Licking Park District event:

• Land of Legend Woodcarvers Spring Show- Sat, June 6, 10 a.m .- 4 p.m. Infirmary Mound Park, James Bradley Center, Ohio 37, Granville. Join the Land of Legend Woodcarvers, in cooperation with the Licking Park District, as they present their annual Spring Wood Carving Show. Marvel at the intricate carvings; learn what tools to use and even purchase a piece or two to add to your collection. This show is always a crowd pleaser and one not to be missed. Free admission.

Ultimate Recycling Day Sheridan Middle School, Thornville. Want to get rid of old appliances, worn out tires, scrap metal, used motor oil and car batteries? Take them to the Sheridan Middle School rear parking from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30. Appliances are $6 each if they contain freon and $3 each for all others. Passenger and light truck tires are $1.50 each, plus $1 if on rim. Car batteries must not be leaking. For more information call Perry County Recycling at 740-342-7881


Hookahville XXXI – Pataskala. May 23-24, Hookahville XXXI is only days away! The Frontier Ranch presents “Hookahville XXXI”, a three-day music and camping event featuring ekoostik hookah, a limited number of $65 tickets are on sale right now, when they are gone tickets will be $80 (at the gate as well). Each Hookahville ticket includes music, camping and parking from Saturday at 8 AM through Monday at noon. Children 12 and under are admitted to the festival free with a paid adult.
