BUCKEYE LAKE – Perfect weather for July combined with the biggest BLASST fireworks show ever and a great boat parade made for a memorable 4th of July weekend.
The absolutely spectacular fireworks show lasted about 30 minutes, prompting a long chorus of boat horns and whistles in appreciation.
Buckeye Lake VFW Post 1388’s honor guard set Sunday’s boat parade honoring our troops off with a 21-gun salute. World War II veteran and Millersport resident Nelson Trimmer was the Grand Marshal. He was joined by veterans from Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Samantha, the mute swan, was remembered with a pontoon outfitted with swan cutouts, pulling a paddle boat decorated to resemble a swan.
