The Antique and Classic Boat Society would like to extend a hearty thank you to everyone involved in the planning and execution of the June 15 boat and car show along the Millersport Canal. Special thanks to Shawn Carter and the Millersport Lions Club, Fire Chief Matt Bergum and fire/ EMS personnel, Millersport Police Chief Mark Consolo and officers, Dave Levacy and Buckeye Lake Marina, Matt Zimmerman, Chief Judge Jack McCarthy, and the residents along Canal Drive who are most affected by the street closure.
Kudos to the boat committee and everyone who participated or volunteered because without their assistance and support the shows would not have been possible. The boat and car show participants deserve many thanks for bringing their cars and boats for the public to enjoy; most participants stayed and interacted with the crowd, sharing stories with the crowd as they walked through the show.
Boat awards were presented to the winners at a reception at the American Legion Hall. The following awards were given: Most Original/Best Preserved was awarded to Harry Shaw; Best Pre-War Runabout was awarded to Jack Beatley for a 1927 Chris Craft Cadet; People’s Choice Award was awarded to Jeff Runkle for a 1940 Chris Craft (Elizabeth’s Dream); Best Lyman was awarded to Ted Lewis for a 1949 Lyman (Allison); Best Century was awarded to Mike Smith for a 1985 Century Resorter (Andi Pandi); Best Chris Craft was awarded to Bruce and Emily Pickering for a 1936 Runabout (Liebechen); Best Pre-War Utility was awarded to Keith and Deb Eschbaugh for a 1939 Chris Craft Utility (Debutante); Best Outboard was awarded to Robert Swickard for a 1965 Grumm (Who Cares), and Committee’s Choice was awarded to Steve Schilling for a 1970 Lyman (Lybation); and Best of Show went to Chief Waramaug, a 1927 Chris Craft.
