THORNVILLE, MILLERSPORT– It’s hot; it’s humid; it’s time for a dip. Thornville and Millersport residents welcomed the opening of their community pools. “The pool’s going great. We’re open for business,” said Thornville Administrator Beth Patrick. “We could maybe use just a little more cooperation from the weather.” She said this spring’s fickle weather, between stifling hot and stormy, gloomy days is making for inconsistent pool use. “When the weather’s hot, we’re packed,” Patrick said.
Patrick said the pool offers pool parties and swimming lessons as it always has and she encouraged people to call the pool to schedule an event at (740) 246-5717. “Give us a call,” she said, “it’s a great place for families.”
For the 2015 season, a family membership for Thornville residents is $120 up to five members and each additional family member is $10.
A single Thornville resident pays $70 for the season, couples pay $85 and seniors pay $45.
A non-resident family membership is $140 up to five members and each additional family member is $10. A single pays $90 for the season, couples pay $105 and seniors pay $45.
“The big thing is, we got it open,” said Millersport Mayor’s Assistant Vince Popo. Earlier this year, the Millersport pool faced many financial challenges and its future was in question; however, through generous donations and ambitious fundraising, Millersport raised enough money to open this summer. “It’s been a big effort,” Popo said. “We’re on the positive side right now.” He said the pool would remain open for the season until Aug. 9.
Family memberships are $200 for up to six people. Additional persons can be added for $20 each. Senior citizen seasonal memberships are $60 if purchased with a Golden Buckeye Card. Adult (age 15 and older) single seasonal memberships are $80. Daily rates are: $2 for a senior citizen, $4 for adults 15+ years old and $3 for children 3 to 14. Ages 2 and under are free.
