Hebron Mayor Clifford A. Mason sworn in Aaron Long and Dorie Vermilion as part-time police officersin February. Both officersrecently completed the department’s 160-hour Field Training Program and have now been released to solo patrol. The program, which includes written tests and numerous scenario-based situations, is conducted by Sgt. Richard Carson and OfficerChris Redman with a final evaluation by Lt. Larry Brooks. Both Long and Vermilion are graduates of the COTC Police Academy. Vermillion was a parttime Buckeye Lake officerbefore joining the Hebron department. Long was a Newark Police auxiliary. Both are now paid part-time officers.
