Support hospitalized veterans June 11


The VFW Auxiliary to Post 1388 is hosting a special event on Wednesday, June 8. The traveling WWII Memorial Wall, Freedom’s Never Free, will travel from the Lancaster High School to VFW Post #1388 at Buckeye Lake. It will be on display for everyone from Wednesday evening until Sunday, June 12th.

There will also be a in restored WWII jeep on display. We are asking our friends and fellow Veterans to line Ohio 37, Ohio 79 to Ohio 360, to the VFW Post and wave your flags to show support. We will be leaving Lancaster at about 6 p.m. arriving at the VFW about 6:45 p.m. Volunteers will help set up the Memorial that evening. Help is always appreciated. There will be a service on Saturday June 11, at the VFW Post, after a day of celebration.

The VFW Auxiliary to VFW Post 1388 is also hosting a Poker Run and auction on Saturday, June 11, to raise monies for the VA Hospital in Chillicothe. All the money raised will be used to buy everyday necessities for our veterans in the hospital.

For the Poker Run, the first bike is out at 11 a.m. with the, last bike out at noon. The last bike in will be by 5 p.m.

Activities include a live auction, silent auction, great band, wood carving display, chair massages, and great food. All are welcome to participate. If you don’t want to take the “Run,” you can come out and bid at the auction and enjoy great company, food and beverages. All proceeds will go to the Veterans in the VA Hospital.

We will also be collecting Cans 4 Cancer that day. Bring us your aluminum cans and we will recycle them and give the money to The VFW Auxiliary Cancer Aide and Research Fund. We will be collecting all day on Saurday,. June 11th.
