My name is Alec Harrison and I’m proud to be a junior at Millersport High School. During this past summer, I got the privilege to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY) at Denison University.
HOBY is a unique four-day youth leadership camp for past sophomores who were chosen by their schools. The HOBY seminar I attended had 200 sophomores there! It was a life changing event that taught me many new things. I’ve learned how to become a better leader, how to meet new people, and to stand up for what I believe in. This seminar also let us experience what a college atmosphere is like.
HOBY is really unique because of their energetic chants. They would create these silly, but catchy energetic chants that everyone would do. HOBY is an experience like no other that I wish everyone could attend.
I want to thank all of the Walnut Township School District for allowing me to attend the HOBY seminar. Even though our school district is going through a difficult time, they still do amazing things for our students like they did for me. For many reasons, including that, I’m proud to call myself a Millersport Laker. Thank you!
