Steven Joe Teets





A celebration of the life of Steven Joe Teets, 61, of Sebring, Fla., formerly of Baltimore, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville, with Pastor Paul Bishop as celebrant. Burial will be at Wilson Cemetery, Newark, with full military honors by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Steve was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, having served honorably in the US Army, where he earned a purple heart and medal of honor. He worked at Lucent technologies for over 35 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bridge, flea markets and spending summers with his grandchildren in Florida. He was a member of the Elks lodge at Lake Placid, Fla., and the VFW at Sebring, Fla.

Steve leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Vicki Gockenbach- Teets; children, Candice Ward, of Lancaster, and Matthew (Sharla) Teets, of Pickerington; grandchildren, Felicia, Johnny, and Kaitlin Ward, of Lancaster, and Brienna Shook-Teets and Kyela Teets, of Pickerington; his sisters Cheryl (Tom) McKnight, of Sebring, Fla., and Jodi (Ron) Miller, of Westerville; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Phoebe J. Teets; and a brother, Joseph F. Teets.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions be made to assist with final expenses.
