Shirley Faye Helsel

Shirley Faye Helsel, 74 of Thornville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at OSU Medical Center East.

Shirley was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Washington, PA, the daughter of the late Cecil Nelson and Inez Scott Mansfield.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, a long time member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, and a lifetime member of the United Methodist

Women. Shirley was also a former payroll clerk for Western Electric.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Ernest) Kent of Columbus; her son, Scott (Amy) Helsel of Thornville; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale E. Helsel (2002); a brother, Raymond Mansfield; and an infant sister, Cecilia Faye Mansfield.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb.10, 2011, at the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Feb.11, 2011, with Pastor Maxine Smith-Pierce officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of new teddy bears be donated at the Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church for Children’s Hospital and several local nursing homes in loving memory of Shirley.
