A graveside funeral service, celebrating the life of Samuel Skaggs, age 76, of Thornville, were held May 4, 2016, at Olivet Cemetery in Thornville.
Samuel was born in Columbus, on April 7, 1940, to the late James T. and Sula Skaggs. He passed away on April 30, 2016, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.
Prior to retirement, he was a meat cutter at Bays Packing and also worked at Kroger Dairy for many years. He enjoyed collecting 57 Chevy’s and was a former member of the Performance Classic Car Club. He enjoyed carpentry work and built numerous homes for those in need.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Wanda (Hannan) Skaggs, whom he married June 20, 1960; children, Cindy (James) Orr, Tina (Michael) Helser, Randy (Dorothy) Skaggs, Lisa (Charles) Larue and Darla (Bud) Tysinger; sister, Carlene Carroll; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Betty Laughlin, Peggy Cooperrider and Carol Sue Walters; and brothers, James, Jerry and Steven Skaggs.
