Ruth Byrd, 75, of Hebron died on Friday,
Jan. 1, 2010 at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center in Newark, following an extended illness. She was born Sept. 30, 1934 in Elkins, W. Va., the daughter of the late Walter and Ella (Hedrick) Harper.
She was a retired school secretary for the Lakewood Schools after 44 years of dedicated service. She loved to travel and adored her dogs, most recently Coco.
She is survived by her loving family: her sons, Mike of Johnstown and Tim of Hebron; her brother, George (Mary) Harper of Granville, and her sister, Jennie (George) Warner of Reynoldsburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John R. Byrd in 1981, her son, Jeffrey and her two brothers.
Services were held January 5th, 2010, at The Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Tim Mason as celebrant. Burial was in Newark Memorial Gardens.
