Ruth Ann (Bixler) Roach

Ruth Ann (Bixler) Roach, age 49, died December 14, 2009, at Desert Spring Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada, of complications from Lupus and a heart attack suffered November 8, 2009. She was born May 7, 1960, to the (late) Kenneth (Sr.) and W. Irene (Pendleton) Bixler in Lancaster.

A graduate of Lakewood High School, Ruth worked many years at the Newark Air Force Base before moving to Massachusetts, where she became a foster parent to Anna for 8 years. Ruth was selfemployed with Mannatek. Ruth enjoyed clowning and gave joy to many children and adults even when not dressed in her “clown” outfit. Her distinctive laughter made everyone laugh with her; we will always remember her laugh. Ruth cherished her time with Jeremiah and C.J. (step-grandchildren) teaching, loving and playing with them gave her the greatest pleasure.

Ruth Ann is survived by two step-daughters, Angela (Nate) Sponsler of Loudonville, OH and Jocelyn Roach of Henderson, Nev.; brothers, Kenneth Jr. (Sue) and O. Wayne (Brenda) of Newark; four step-grandchildren, (plus one due in April) Madalyn and Logan Sponsler of Ohio, Jeremiah and C.J. Roach of Nevada; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Ruth was blessed with several long-time special friends, Kim Boydoh, Sheila Burnham and Marsha Roberts.

Ken and Sue would like to say a special thank you to Kim for her help during Ruth’s illness, for going to Nevada, and for being by Ruth’s side before and during her illness.

Services were held in Boulder City, Nevada on December 21, 2009, where Ruth Ann made her home since 2005 and in Las Vegas on Dec. 22 with special friends and members of her church family.

A celebration of Ruth Ann’s life and what would have been her 50th birthday followed by a graveside service at Fairmount Church Cemetery in Jacksontown, Ohio is planned for May, 2010.

Memorials in her name be given to the Lupus Foundation of America, Ohio Chapter, 6119 E. Main St., Ste. 207, Columbus, OH 43213
