Russell E. Mann, Sr.




Russell E. Mann, Sr., age 87, of Baltimore, died at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation on Wednesday, September 15th, 2010.

He was a member of Fairfield Christian Church and attended Faith Memorial Church. He retired from AT&T after 25 years of service. He was a WWII Veteran participating in both Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the local VFW Post and American Legion. His greatest love other than family was singing and playing the guitar. He was a Nashville recording artist. For years he enjoyed entertaining people with his band and music and then he played solely for his Lord. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and he worked as a portal chief at the home games for 25 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of five years, Helen Cain Mann of Baltimore; son, Russ Mann, Jr. of Cleveland; daughter, Debbie Stayton of Tucson, AZ; sister, Mildred Smith of Lancaster; stepchildren, Eddie (Diane) Jones of FL, Vicki (Tom) Gibbs of Lancaster, and Dan Jones of Columbus; stepbrother, David (Marry) Luckhart of Chillicothe; and daughter-in-law, Nadine Mann of Flagstaff, AZ.

He was preceded in death by wife, Barbara Mann; parents, Pastor Ray and Hilda Mann; son, Terry Mann; stepson, Ron Jones; stepbrother, Max Luckhart; and stepmother, Virginia Mann.

Funeral service was September 17, 2010, at the Johnson Smith Funeral Home in Baltimore, officiated by Pastor Mel Truex and assisted by Pastor Mark Barbee. A committal service by the Baltimore Veteran’s Burial Detail followed the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
