Ross Douglas “Doug” Owen




A funeral service celebrating the life of Ross Douglas “Doug” Owen, age 63, of Hebron, was held February 16, 2018, at The Heath Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Tim Sowards officiating.

Doug passed away February 13, 2018, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born on October 7, 1954, in Newark, to the late Leslie B. and Selma R. (Lawrence) Owen.

Doug was an accomplished semi-professional dart player winning many tournaments. He also enjoyed hunting, playing golf and fishing. Doug had previously worked for Koch Material as an equipment operator. He will long be remembered as a kind and caring man who was an avid softball player, and a Cincinnati Reds and The Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Doug even appeared on the game show, Cash Explosion.

He is survived by his wife, Rae Jean Owen, whom he married on July 3, 1983; a son, Tyler Douglas Owen; two brothers, Dave Owen and Mark (Melanie) Owen; a sister, Rebecca Archer; grandson, Jonathan J. Owen; aunt; Velma (Dean) Emswiler; nieces and nephews, Mike (Sarah) Marmie, Dan (Mickey) Archer, Scott (Kerry) Sunkle, Renee (Chip) French, Jolyn (Ryan) Carpenter, Heath Sunkle, Kim Ulery Mainor, Crystal (Jim) Fulk and Amber (Clay) Lattimere; former sister-in-law, Vicki Owen; and many great-nieces and nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Ulery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Crossroads Baptist Church of Newark
