Ronald S. Acord



Funeral services, celebrating the life of Ronald S. Acord, 79, of Buckeye Lake, formerly of Jacksontown, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Clifford Mason as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown.

Ron passed away peacefully on March 24, 2018, following an extended illness. He was born December 10, 1938, in Frazeysburg, the son of the late Walter and Clara (McKee) Acord. He retired after 36 years as an oiler at Owens-Corning Fiberglas in Newark. He was also an active member of the Licking Township community, serving as a volunteer fireman from 1972-1984, and then being elected to serve as a township trustee for 30 years. Ron loved camping, bowling, driving his Rhoads Car in local parades and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving family: wife, Sheila; daughters, Kelly (Robert) Hayes and Cindy (Brad) Spung, both of Newark; son, Ronnie (Michelle) Acord of Pataskala; step-sons, Ray and Jay (Judy) Vanoster; daughter-in-law, Patty Vanoster; grandchildren, Tashia West and Ryan Wahl; brothers Emerson (Phyllis) Acord of Hanover and Wayne (Marty) Acord of St. Louisville; sisters, Genevieve (Gail) Moran, Thelma (Forrest) Smythe, Nancy (Arlan) Zimmerman, all of Newark and Alma (Ralph) Wright of Hanover; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife ,Ann in 2002; step-son, Rick Vanoster; his brothers, Kenny and Alan; and his sister, Gyneth.
