Rod was born in Newark, on June 24, 1934, to the late Willard A and Verna Belle (Sturman) Hill. He passed away on September 28, 2015 at Mt. Carmel East.
Rod was a 1952 graduate of Jacksontown High School. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church. Rod took great pride in his work and shared his wealth of knowledge and expertise with many others. He taught the Licking County Electrical Building Code Fundamentals at the Joint Vocational School in Newark. In addition, he owned and operated Hill Service and Repair, specializing in lawnmowers and chainsaws. Rod truly was a jack-of-all trades. He was self-taught in many areas including plumbing, electrical, construction, carpentry, machine and fabrication. He was a true hard working American.
Most important to Rod was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Carol (Brown); his children, Rosalie (Dennis) Miller, Timothy (Debra) Hill, and Zoanne (Carl) Redman; grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica) Miller, Josh Hill, Meghan Miller, Jeremy (Kensie) Hill, and Katie Hill; great-grandchildren, Gabbie Hill Patterson and Alyssa Miller; sister, Nancy (Bob) Trout; sister-in-law, Barbara Dresler; and several nieces and nephews.
