Robert James Fisher, age 83 of Thornville, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Winchester Place, Canal Winchester.
He was born on September 14, 1927, in Junction City, to the late Urban A. and Stella L. (Sweeney) Fisher. He went to St. Mary’s school. He played baseball and basketball in high school. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WW II and Korea. He was employed by Ohio Bell where he retired in 1984. He was a member of AMVETS Post 51 Thornport, Eagles #2801, AT&T Telephone Pioneers, Bexley American Legion and V.F.W. Post 1388.
Robert is survived by his significant other, Florence Kelley and her family; son, Timothy E. (Teresa) Fisher; grandson, Brad; daughter, Mary Ann Fisher; granddaughter, Jill; sister, Betty (Ralph “Dutch”) Uhl; sister in law, Shirley Bradley; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister, and brotherin law, Jack Bradley.
Friends and family may call Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 6 – 8 pm at the Boring Sheridan Schoedinger Funeral Home, 56 South Main Street, Thornville.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, with Pastor Gerri Lampton officiating. Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the AMVETS Color Guard, Post 51, Thornport.
