Robert “Bob” Banfill, age 65, died October 31, 2009, in an auto accident. He was born on July 21, 1944. He retired from Buckeye Honda, and was a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church and attended the Jacksontown United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a member of the Millersport Lions Club, Millersport American Legion, and the D.A.V.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Anna Mae Banfill of Thurston; step daughter, Roseanna (John) Smith of Newark; step sons, Jerry (Brenda) Mummey of Newark, Danny (Tina) Mummey of Newark, David (Barbara) Mummey of London, Donald (Tammy) Mummey of Brighton, CO, Roger (Nina) Mummey of Millersport; 14 grandchildren; 35 great grand- children; one great great grandchild; brother, Rusty (Meg) Smith of VA; two nephews of VA; and two great friends, Gary DeBord of TN and John Snooke of Pleasantville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Elsie Banfill; and mother, Genova Smith.
A service will take place at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home in Baltimore, OH on Friday, November 6, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Pastor Bob Byers and Pastor Carol Kirk with a vigil service before calling with Rev. Father William J. Ferguson. The Buckeye Lake VFW will present an honor gaurd after the service. Caring Cremation will follow the service. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The Millersport Lion’s Club will have a service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
