Richard Franklin Conway Sr., age 84 of Thornville, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, at The Pickering House, Lancaster.
He was born on April 10, 1926, in Brownfield, Pennsylvania to the late Ward and Oma (Corriston) Conway. Richard was a member of Fairfield Beach United Methodist Church. He loved watching westerns, history, steam engines and fishing. He served in the Army during WW II with the 26th Infantry Division. He retired from the Timken Company after 30 years.
Richard is survived by his children; Richard Conway Jr. of California, David (Dean) Conway of Washington, Dale ( Sherry) Conway of Texas, Duane (Debbie) Conway of Somerset, Claudine Conway, Clifford Conway, Darrell Conway, and Kathy (Chuck) Nichols, all of Thornville; daughter-inlaw, Tammy (Richard) Grimm of Thornville; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy C. (Hileman) Conway; son, Keith Conway; daughter-in-law, Linda Conway; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 11: 00 am at Boring- Sheridan Schoedinger Funeral Home, Thornville, with an hour of calling 10-11 a.m. before the service with Pastor Terry Borah and Pastor Doug Lynn officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville.
