Report from the Village: Residents are tired of waiting

The Buckeye Lake Fire Association held their car show on Sunday, October 21st and had the largest number of registered show cars that they have ever had. They registered 267 cars from 80 different cities and towns. There were entries from as far as Harrisville Pa. and Parkersburg W. Va. There were 54 awards given to 36 different cities. We want to thank all of the sponsors that helped with the awards. Also a special “thank you” to Mike and Shirley Grosseclose who very generously allowed us to use the KOA campground property in which to hold the show. Without them and the sponsors, we would not have such a successful event.

The village has closed the purchase of the property next to the firestation and we now own that ground. Discussions will now begin on exactly what to do with it. Past opinions have leaned toward making additional parking for the firedepartment and people coming to the station for treatment.

A public meeting was held at the village hall Friday to discuss purchasing water from Millersport. We were very glad to see some residents show up and voice their opinions about getting water into the village. We have not talked with Hebron yet but it seems that the residents had two major points. One was that they are tired of waiting on the water and they want it very soon and the other point was that they favor getting water from Millersport mainly because we can get it sooner. I am sure that their comments will be taken into consideration by the mayor and council when it gets to the point of actually choosing the source for village water.

With the cold weather just around the corner I would like to remind everyone to make sure that their stoves, heaters, and furnaces are in good safe working order. We don’t want people to have fires in their homes due to faulty heating equipment. Chimneys should also be made safe before using fireplaces or furnaces.
