I’m writing to ask Perry County voters for their support on Election Day. The Perry County Board of Developmental Disabilities has a replacement levy on the ballot. This funding is critical for their operation and the services they provide.
My husband and I are both lifelong residents of Perry County. In 2008, we were blessed with the birth of our twin boys. At the age of 3, they were both diagnosed with Autism. Throughout the entire process, we have been provided with amazing support from the professionals at PCBDD. As our boys have grown, PCBDD has helped us obtain treatment, find funding for portions of medical bills not covered by insurance, find fun activities for our boys such as summer day camp, and so much more.
Until we started our own journey, I never knew that health insurance doesn’t cover many developmental disability services.
PCBDD does their best to bridge that gap. Last summer, our boys had their first opportunity to attend summer day camp. It was immediately clear how much thought and care went into planning activities that the children could all enjoy safely.
The best thing about PCBDD is the personal level of service they provide. Every individual that we have worked with has taken the time to personally get to know us and understand the difficulties we face. It is clear with every encounter that the staff truly cares about our boys and our family, and that is difficult to find.
We are very fortunate in Perry County to have such a caring & professional staff working to provide much needed services for our developmentally disabled citizens. Please give them your support and vote YES for the renewal levy on November 4!
