Ralph W. Swartz, 79, of Baltimore, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 03, 2009, at the Pickering House in Lancaster.
Ralph was born February 14, 1930, in Baltimore to the late Joseph and Nina (Raver) Swartz. Ralph was a graduate of Carroll High School, Class of 1949. He was retired from truck driving with the Matlack Trucking Company. As a U.S. Army Veteran, Ralph was a Corporal, serving in Seoul during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Shirley; daughters, Karen McAvoy of Baltimore, Judy (Mike) Reher of Lancaster; sons, Ralph Swartz Jr. and Joe Swartz both of Baltimore; sister, Arvada (Don) Harrington of Marysville; grandchildren, Robin (Jeff) Mankin of Canal Winchester, Jim (Lydia) McAvoy of Lancaster, Steve(Danette) McAvoy of Canal Winchester, Crystal Swartz of Lancaster, Bryce Reher of Lancaster; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Robert McAvoy; and several aunts and uncles.
Friends and family may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home, 207 S Main St., Baltimore. Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dr. William Beausay officiating. Interment to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Thanks also go out to the Mid-America Dialysis Center in Columbus for Ralph’s care over the past few years during his declining health.
