Public Works committee seeks private sector representative

NEWARK – The District 17 Integrating Committee of the Ohio Public Works Commission is seeking nominations to fill the seat of private sector representative for a three-year term. Meetings are held approximately 4-6 times per year at the Licking County Administration Building in Newark.

The private sector representative should have experience in local infrastructure planning and economic development and should represent the interest of private industry within the district. The private sector representative and an alternate will be appointed by a majority of the members of the District Integrating Committee during the June 2009 organizational meeting. Members of district integrating committees may not be compensated for personal or professional services provided, through contract or employment, for any project considered for Commission funding by the district committee. Public employees of local and state government are not eligible for consideration as a Private Sector Representative.

The District 17 Integrating Committee is responsible for allocating the funds made available to finance public infrastructure projects for local government entities in the Delaware, Fairfield, Knox, Licking, Morrow, and Pickaway Counties. These funds are part of the motor vehicle fuel excise tax (Local Transportation Improvement Program or LTIP), and also the State Issue I or State Capital Improvements Program (SCIP) renewed by voters in the November 2005 election. The District Integrating Committee also reviews and ranks projects submitted for the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund and the Job Ready Sites Program. The Committee is made up of county, city, village, township and private sector representatives and a county engineer.
