HEBRON – Are you prepared for personal emergencies or large disasters like floods and storms?
Free training is being offered in your neighborhood. Next month, Licking County’s Community Emergency Response Team will be offering free training on how to prepare for and respond to small and large disasters. You’ll learn what you can do before firefighters/medics or police arrive. During a large disaster, it could be hours or longer before first responders can make it to your home.
The classes, limited to 25 participants to ensure you receive hands-on training, will be held at the Union Township Complex at 1380 Beaver Run Road. Classes start on Wednesday, September 12 and will continue for the next seven Wednesdays. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. and will end by 9 p.m.
Your hands-on training includes how to use fire extinguishers, how to shut off utilities, disaster first aid, damage assessment, basic search and rescue, how to prepare for emergencies and terrorism. Pre-registration is required. Anyone 18 or older or children 12 and older with parental permission can attend. For more information call Lori Lee Dixon, CERT Coordinator, at 740-670-4583 or visit www.LickingCountyCERT.com. On-line registration is available at LCEOC@lcounty.com.
