MILLERSPORT – American Legion Auxiliary members will be distributing poppies in Millersport beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 4.
The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors Poppy Day each year to remind Americans of the sacrifice of life and health made by the men and women of our armed forces. The poppies are made by disabled Veterans and are never sold. Contributions support rehabilitation and child welfare efforts for Veterans and their families.
Emily Blevins, the daughter of Jason and Jennifer Blevins, is the 2013 Little Miss Poppy Queen. She is seven years old and is in the first grade at Millersport Elementary School. She is a member of the Junior Auxiliary, eligible by her great grandfather, Richard Harlow, who served in the Korean Conflict. For more information, call poppy chair Carol Kitzmiller at 740-467-2234.
