LANCASTER – Pizza Cottage is among the nation’s best-performing pizzerias and ranked in the top 10, according to Pizza Today magazine, the leading publication of the $37 billion pizza industry. The magazine, which annually ranks the largest independent operations in the U.S. is based on sales, this month named Pizza Cottage to its prestigious Hot 100 list.
Pizza Cottage is a collection of six Pizza Cottage restaurants located across Ohio owned by Lancaster entrepreneur Larry E. Tipton. Pizza Cottage was founded in 1972 by Jack and Yvonne Gorham. Their son, Kevin Gorham, sold Pizza Cottage to Lloyd Helber of Lancaster about 12 years ago. Helber sold the six-unit chain to Tipton early last year. Kevin Gorham continues as General Manager.
“This is a testament to our employees and local customers,” said Larry Tipton, owner of Pizza Cottage. “Our restaurants are staples in their communities and we are honored to be recognized as a great pizzeria.”
“Making our list is quite an accomplishment,” said Pizza Today Editor-in-Chief Jeremy White. “Each year our readers await the release of the Hot 100 list anxiously. The pizzerias on our Hot 100 list have managed to really set themselves apart from the competition with great food and service, solid marketing and old-fashioned hard work.”
