The Ohio School Boards Association recently honored two Walnut Township Local School Board nominees at the Central Region Fall Conference in Columbus. Dr. Paul Whetstone of Millersport was honored as a “Friend of Public Education.” In nominating Whetstone, the Board wrote, in part: “He and his wife, Dr. Anne Whetstone, raised their family in Millersport. Over the years, Dr. Paul has been very generous with both his time and financial backing of the district. They are always willing to help our students and their families.” The Board also nominated Heather Terry of Millersport as an “Exemplary School Employee,” which is awarded to an employee deemed critical to the success of the district and one who also demonstrates superior service. In nominating Terry, the Board wrote, in part: “Heather goes above and beyond her duties as secretary. She is tenacious when it comes to completing tasks and she gives generously of her time to our students, often working well past the normal work day.” Both awards were presented by Dr. Marguerite Bennett, President Central Region Executive Committee.
