Stop by the Thurston-Walnut Township Fire Department, 8474 High Street, Thurston, for a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 15. If you can’t make breakfast come by from 2 – 4 p.m. for the department’s open house. Check out the department’s brand new McCoy Miller medic complete with a compressed air foam system for fire suppression and the “Jaws of Life” to extract victims from crushed vehicles. Walnut Township Trustees purchased the $176,000 medic for the department. Med Flight will also make a visit weather permitting. Firefighters will demonstrate the medic’s fire fighting capabilities with a burning car demonstration.
