Serving all the communities of the Buckeye Lake Region

A beautiful Memorial Day weekend was mostly wasted at Buckeye Lake this year. Just one boat trailer was in North Shore boat ramp parking lot at 3 p.m. Monday. It was gone in another 15 minutes. Only a handful of watercrafts ventured out on what’s left of the lake for the traditional start of summer. The reality of the impact of ODNR’s ‘winter pool’ was evident around the lake. It wasn’t just boaters who stayed home or went someplace else. Lakeside neighborhoods typically jammed with families and friends for the start of summer were generally quiet. Restaurants normally packed with residents and visitors had weekday crowds if that. The economic impact was obvious. Beacon photo by Charles Prince.
