The Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society broke ground on its Phase III expansion on Sunday, Oct. 19. From left to right are Buckeye Lake Museum Director J-me Braig holding an architect’s rendering of the expansion, Norma Dixon of Fairfield Beach, museum board President Fred Bair and museum board member John Hoermle. Dixon’s bequest of her entire estate to the society is funding the expansion which includes adding a glass atrium on the front of the museum along Ohio 79 and a two-story display area to the rear of the existing building. The restored rocket ship from the Buckeye Lake Amusement Park will be displayed in the atrium. Dixon also donated her large collection of bears, dolls, and Native American artifacts to the museum. The new addition will be named the Bard & Dixon Family Building in her honor. Beacon photo by Charles Prince.
