Buckeye Lake State Park secretary Lisa McIntyre retired Tuesday after spending more than 10 years as the public voice and face at the park. Dock permit issues were a big part of her duties as was answering hundreds of phone calls from puzzled Beacon readers. She had 30+ years service with the State of Ohio, working previously at ODNR’s Division of Oil and Gas and Division of Watercraft. “I’ll miss everything,” she said Monday. “How many people get a lakefront view at work?” She’s not retiring to an easy chair in front of a TV. Lisa has her own animal park at her 40- acre farm in northeast Licking County with 30-some cattle of multiple breeds, 13 or so horses, 18 mini horses, five mini donkeys, seven alpacas and one zebra. And she’s not finished. Temporary office hours at Buckeye Lake will be 8 to 4 on Wednesdays and Thursdays until a replacement is in place. At other times, phone calls will be transferred to another park in District Manager Hal Harper’s district. Beacon photo by Charles Prince.
