Pastor David W. Moody




A funeral service celebrating the life of Pastor David W. Moody, age 71, of Newark, was held October 23, 2017, at First Community Church, Buckeye Lake. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark.

Pastor Moody passed away October 18, 2017, at his residence.

He was born July 18, 1946, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to the late David R. and Mabel (Caldwell) Moody.

Pastor Moody was a pastor for 35 years before retiring in 2011. He had a strong faith in God and would pray and study God’s word every day. He was a very devoted father and husband and will be sadly missed. He was an avid reader, a Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets hockey fan, and enjoyed collecting Boston Terrier figurines and hockey pucks.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Jeannette (Snoor) Moody, whom he married on August 19, 1967; a very special Boston Terrier named “Shotzie”, three sons, David P. (Brandy) Moody of Hebron, Jonathan W. (Sienna) Moody of Millersport and Aaron J. (Kelly Walton) Moody of Newark; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Matt) Holmes of Newark; a sister, Sally Thomas of Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren, David, Sarah, Joshua, Lydia, Caleb and Kylee.

Memorial contributions may be made in Pastor Moody’s name to First Community Church (Foreign Missionary Work), 4381 Walnut Road, Buckeye Lake, Ohio 43008.

The Newark Chapel of Henderson Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service is assisting the Moody family with arrangements.
