Oscar Askoff


Oscar Askoff, age 89 of Kirkersville, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 5, 2019, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Oscar was born August 14, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Eli and Tema Askoff.
Oscar’s family immigrated to the United States from Yugoslavia by way of Ellis Island. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He retired after 35 years of service with Columbia Gas of Ohio. He was a 40-year member of World Harvest Church in Columbus, where he served as an usher, Head Usher, and Head Usher Emeritus for 38 years. Oscar was known for many wonderful characteristics including his integrity, his sincerity and his loyalty to his community, his family, his church and to his Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joann (Jordan) Askoff; daughters, Julie Pfeffer (Fred) of Newark, Joni Parsley (Pastor Rod) of Pickerington and Jennifer Sullivan (Rick) of Baltimore; grandchildren, Matthew Pfeffer, Jillian Hupp (Matt), Jared Pfeffer, Daniel Pfeffer (Megan), Ashton and Austin Parsley and Ryan, Andrew and Jordan Mills; four great-grandchildren, Ava and Lily Hupp and Jackson and Maxton Pfeffer; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother, James Askoff.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harvest Preparatory School Scholarship Foundation in honor of the Oscar Askoff Memorial Scholarship.
Visiting hours will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, at World Harvest Church, 4595 Gender Road, Canal Winchester, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m.
