MILLERSPORT– Millersport residents arrived in droves Saturday to welcome Santa back to town for his annual early December visit. “I think it’s the best weather we’ve ever had,” said Olde Canal Restaurant owner and parade organizer Faye Whitaker. She said warm temperatures and sunny skies contributed to the strong turnout. Whitaker estimates that roughly 150 children told their holiday wishes to Santa at the Millersport Fire Department following the jolly one’s triumphant return to town.
Whitaker said this was the second year Santa set up shop in the fire department and it’s working out very well. The fire department also sponsored a toy drive and community dinner. “It’s wonderful when the community works together like that,” she said.
Whitaker said Watson Oil Company owner Jeff Watson started the parade about 10 years ago, and it keeps growing. “I hope it continues,” she said, being quite certain it will.
