JACKSONTOWN-Mother Nature fooled us again. Many flowering trees and shrubs bloomed several weeks early because of the inclemently warm days we experienced into the beginning of the week. But, even the trees were caught unprepared for Wednesday’s plummeting temperatures.
“It’ll probably shorten the length of the blooms significantly,” said Laura Kaparoff, Dawes Arboretum public relations director. The crab apple blooms will be greatly affected by the cold, she said, and the magnolias that haven’t bloomed yet may not at all. Temperatures are expected to hover near freezing for the rest of the week.
