KIRKERSVILLE – A celebration of the history of the old National Road will take place Sunday, July 11 with the dedication of a Historic National Road interpretive sign in front of Kirkersville United Methodist Church.
Licking County Commissioner Doug Smith will present a history of the National Road, Kirkersville and a 1896-1900 community autographed quilt as part of the dedication service, which begins at 10:45 a.m. Smith’s presentation will include historic photographs. He will be joined by Ohio National Road Association President Cyndie Gerken.
The plaque will be displayed in front of the church as a milemarker on US 40.
An old-fashioned Ice Cream Social will be held at the church at noon and will include hotdogs.
