COLUMBUS – Lieutenant Patrick B. Vessels was recently promoted to the rank of staff lieutenant.. He will transfer from his command at the Circleville Post, where he has served since 1997, to General Headquarters.

Staff Lieutenant Vessels began his Patrol career as a Cadet Dispatcher at the Ironton Post in 1985. After joining the 117th Academy Class, he earned his commission in September 1988. His first assignment was at the Circleville Post. Also at the Circleville Post, in 1992, Staff Lieutenant Vessels earned an Ace Award for excellence in auto larceny enforcement, and was named Post Trooper of the Year and District Trooper of the Year that same year.

In 1993, he transferred to the Portsmouth Post, where he earned a promotion to the rank of sergeant and served as assistant commander. In 1993, he transferred back to the Circleville Post as its assistant commander. In 1997, he transferred to the Circleville Post, where he earned a promotion to lieutenant five years later and assumed command of the Circleville Post.

In 2006, he earned a certificate from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University.

Originally from Georgetown, Staff Lieutenant Vessels resides in Millersport with his wife, Carla, and their two sons, Race and Blake.
