A funeral service celebrating the life of Mildred P. Staggers, age 94, of Hanover, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Reverend Bill Wayt officiating. Burial will follow at Hanover Cemetery.
Mrs. Staggers passed away Friday, May 22, 2015, at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). She was born October 7, 1920, in Bladensburg, Ohio, to the late Thomas O. and Bertha (Miller) McKee.
Mildred was the owner of Millie’s Village Bar in Buckeye Lake. She was a member of the Druids, Newark Moose and Buckeye Lake Eagles and attended Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Stanley Thomas Staggers and Jackie Don Staggers; three brothers; two sisters and a grandson.
She is survived by two daughters in-law, Ada Staggers of Hanover and Marsha Jo Staggers of MacClenny, Florida; six grandchildren, Mark Staggers, Peggy (Larry) Hardy, Donald (Angie) Staggers, Scott Staggers, Chris Staggers and Deena (Brady) Merkle; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great granddaughter.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, June 1, and again one hour prior to the service at The Newark Chapel of Henderson Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
