Mildred “Midge” G. James

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mildred “Midge” G. James, 95, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Buckeye Lake, were November 3, 2008, at Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Tyler Dunlap officiating. Burial was in New Reading Cemetery near Somerset.

Midge died peacefully in her sleep Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Cindy, in Westerville. She was born Aug. 29, 1913, in Fairfield County to the late Frank and Ruby (Rutter) Stimmel.

She was a retired schoolteacher and cosmetologist, having taught cosmetology at the vocational school in Heath as well as having owned Midge’s Beauty Salon for many years.

She was a member of NHCA, VICA, Ohio Retired Teachers, Look Good Feel Better club, Beta Grail Chapter of Newark, Eagon Chapter No. 123, Order of Eastern Star in Hebron and First Community Church in Buckeye Lake.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Lois) James, of Hudson, Cindy (Don) DeWitt, of Westerville, and Marcia (Gary Whitt) James, of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Sarah (Trevor) Dunlap, John and Jason DeWitt, Andrew and Christopher James, and Brandon Whitt; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Mattie and Lydia Dunlap; brother, Jesse Stimmel, of Columbus; sisters, Billie Stimmel, of Columbus, Fran Baughman, of Harbor Hills, Wanda Shaeffer, of Lancaster, Pat Rutherford, of Utah, and Bobbie Keckly, of Hebron.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Ashton James; three brothers; and a sister.
